What is a CPU?

CPU stands for Central Processing Unit, and is essentially the "brains" of the computer.  It processes information that you enter and makes decisions based on the information you put into it.  The speed of the CPU is essential to the speed and performance of your computer.  The speed of the CPU is measured in Megahertz (Mhz).  Obviously, the more megahertz a computer has, the faster it is.  Right now the fastest CPU is 700 Mhz.  The slowest that you should get in a computer is 300 Mhz.  CPUs are made by two different brands- AMD and Pentium.  For the price, AMD is a fast, reliable CPU.  Pentium is very reliable and comes with many amenities.
